Brandon Sanderson is the king of the fantasy world. No doubt Dawn Ursula, Frank Britton, Holly Vagley, Bradley Smith and Jacob Yeh kind of narrators were needed to narrate this book. Odd worlds were travelled in The Lost Metal and The Alloy of Law so don’t get alarmed in this tale which will give a tour to a world which you have never visited in your dreams. Planet Taldain is the new world of the author for the series.
After the introduction of the planet, the audience is told that the people of the planet have the power to control sand. They have the potential to use sand as a weapon.
Then in an extraordinary situation, these people get killed by their enemies in a hideous way. All the powerful Sand Masters get slaughtered and only the weakest of them remains because of mere luck.
He too gets in trouble because the enemies are not in mood to leave any of the enemies alive. Kenton hides himself for some time so that the enemy can forget him.
Later he comes out in the open and starts looking for a solution to deal with an enemy who is quite powerful. An alliance with Khriss is formed who too is from the darkside.
The two don’t trust each other very well but they have no other option except to work together.
As they start the journey, several realities are brought to light and they are forced to think that it was actually their fate which brought them closer and they have more in common than they already knew. Thus two characters with nothing to lose plan to avenge against a terrible enemy in a big way.
