Travis Baldree gets the chance to narrate the first chapter of the series in the form of this book and narrating the first part is always difficult. The narrator has to give a proper voice to the characters in the first part according to their personality so there is a lot of homework that has to be done. Long Wu Ying in the story was never of the hero category who wanted action in his life as he right from his childhood saw his parents planting rice and working on the fields all the time.
When he grew up, he also started taking part in the same thing and he thought that in this way he would get well settled in life but that was not what fate had in plan for him. One day a group of army officers came to the village and provided the youth of the village a chance to join a special force named as Green Waters Sect.
it was an exciting opportunity for Wu Ying because he never thought that he would be able to see some action in his life. Becoming an immortal cultivator was so much more than being a typical farmer in the village.
Broken Council and A Thousand Li: The First War type of impact is induced on the mind of the listener through this book which Tao Wong has written. This is just the start so a lot of action is not seen at the beginning but after the first half, there is a lot to enjoy. The development in Wu Ying’s personality is not described in a stepwise way rather it is sudden and abrupt.
