Women get dissatisfied with men when they cheat them but after a while, they usually forget about that and get entangled in a new bond. McTierney is not like that as she remembers the past and the faces of men who have deceived her in the past. This is why she does not like the men folks anymore and has decided to live her life independently.

All of this is her outer appearance which she is keeping for the people around her. From the inside she still wants the knight of her dreams to enter the real world and provide her with the physical pleasures that she craves.

Instead of a knight the author Sherrilyn Kenyon presents the central character of the novel as a werewolf. Vane i.e the werewolf was in a badly injured state when McTierney saw her the first time. She took him to a safe place because his enemies were looking for him while he was looking for a mate that was provided to him by nature in the form of the bride standing in front of him.

The relation got developed very quickly and it didn’t give the broken woman time to think on her promises which she was making a few hours ago. Love and vengeance were present in Shadow Fallen and Born of Vengeance here there is another thing intact i.e self-realization. McTierney finally realizes that she was chosen by fate to mate a werewolf. Fred Berman has a shrill voice so it was a bit difficult for the narrator to give the accurate sound to the alpha in the novel
