Zacarias De La Cruz i.e the mighty executioner gets the job done all the time, there is no need to worry when the job is assigned to him. The undead fears the man because his hand shows no mercy towards anyone. Slowly things are creeping into his mind and the man is losing his sanity. Once again the cause of the decline of this hero is his family.
The people around him have left him in a precarious situation out which there is no way. Instead of fighting his way out of this feeling, Zacarias starts thinking about himself and the deeds that he has performed over the years. He has been a predator and this personality hasn’t allowed anyone to come close to him. He has no friends and only a list of foes. Desperately in need of love the killing machine created by the author Christine Feehan goes in search of someone who can accept him.
Accepting him is one thing, a female cannot face him because of his vicious nature. Finally, a woman appears just as we saw in Shadow Storm and Shadow Rider but she is not there for love. The woman actually wants to kill Zacarias but he sees in her a lifemate.
Erik Bergmann and Kristine Ryan don’t ever get stuck during narration, the two narrators have not taken any break during the narration it is a fine flow that the listeners enjoy. Past comes to life on some stages but on most of the occasions the story remains in the present, it is the impact of the past deeds which matters for the main character.
