Christine Feehan starts with action like always and then transforms it into a love story that just fills our hearts with sentiments. If one goes through Shadow Storm and Shadow Rider he will understand what the writer does in most of the stories. Starting with aggression the author gives a hint that the story is thrilling but later it proves to be a love story. Women in the past have been afraid of vampires because they can suck the life out of the living and here the story is different.
Ivory is a different kind of woman, she is a warrior who slays vampires for a living. For years she has been killing vampires along with her pack of wolves. Her family and friends have left her long ago and since then she lives with the wolves. Killing one vampire and then the other has made her famous in the land and the vampires just try to run away from her.
No one dares to cross Ivory’s path because it could mean death for the one who is trying to stand in front of her. Razvan who happens to be a criminal finally ran away from prison and he was looking for a place to hide when Ivory got his smell. He knew that he would be killed soon but when Ivory came closer to him the two felt a strange bond between them.
They were mates for one another and this was the fact which they were unable to deny. Phil Gigante and Jane Brown have given separate voices to the devil and the devil hunter. Narration changes from aggressive to lusty in this novel which slowly gets converted into a love story.
