Simply Unforgettable

Simply Unforgettable is a historical romance and Regency fiction novel written by Mary Balogh. It is the 1st book of the Simply Quartet series. It is followed by Simply Love. Mary has made an esteemed career out of writing historical romances. She is a 35 times NYT bestselling author. She has received various awards and honors, including a Romantic Times Career Achievement Award for Regency Short Stories in 1993. Check out her novel Slightly Married.

Rosalyn Landor has once again delivered a dazzling performance as the narrator of this book. She adds emotion to the story and the characters.

Frances Allard and Lucius Marshall, the Viscount Sinclar met in a ferocious snowstorm. He was a cool, black-caped stranger and she was a young teacher. He came to her rescue at a time when she needed him the most. Their desires were unquenchable and they indulged in their passions with each other.

Frances soon discovered that she couldn’t continue living in fantasy. She knows her place and it is far from the world of privilege. She was due to begin her teaching position at Miss Martin’s school in Bath. She had to forget about that extraordinary night.

Lucius on the other hand refused to take no for an answer. If she wasn’t ready to be his wife, he would make her his mistress. Lucius tried to get every secret out of her, except one, that she already loved him.

The heroine is a bit annoying in this book. She can get on the readers’ nerves; however, the secondary characters are there to pick up the slack. Even when the secret is revealed, it doesn’t seem realistic and doesn’t explain many of the character’s actions.

    1. I wasn’t able to finish this book. it was fun for the first quarter but then the characters just got more annoying, more manipulative of each other and more infuriating romance.
