Golden Trail is a contemporary romance book authored by Kristen Ashley. This is the third book in The ‘Burg series. Kristen is a New York Times bestselling novelist who has written over 70 novels that have been translated into 14 languages. She has sold millions of copies of her books. Although romance is her genre, her books frequently feature themes of sisterhood, family, and friendship. You can read one of her best books – Rock Chick. Brian Pallino is a good narrator that brought the story to life. He added depth to the plot and characters without causing any unnecessary distractions.
Raquel Merrick and Tanner Layne fell in love hard and fast. They knew a beautiful life together when they were together. Except that they didn’t remain together, as Rocky left him without leaving any note or offering any sort of explanation. Layne goes away from the ‘Burg. He comes back only to protect his sons from the town jerk with whom Rocky has now hooked herself with. Layne managed to avoid Rocky for the most part. Yet, as he gets three bullets drilled into him while investigating a dirty cop, avoiding her becomes impossible. They decide to work together to catch the culprit. They also entangle a crime web so abhorrent that it has to be stopped. To perform the job, they will need everyone’s help, including their teenage sons. Meanwhile, they have to make sure that Rocky doesn’t end up doing anything stupid or Layne doesn’t end up dead.
The first half of the story drags on for some time but it picks up in the second half of the book. The characters are well written and show immense depth.
