It is the third chapter in The Phoenix Pack Series. The narrator of this chapter in audio form is Jill Redfield. She had a variety of voices for different characters and it turned out to be a super exciting performance for the listeners.
Shaya Critchley is a half-shifter and she might be having a very submissive role in the wolf pack that she belongs to. But, the redhead said no to an Alpha male who was trying to mess up with her life. She was quite humiliated and angry when her mate rejected her. She then made a move to hide with the humans.
Nick Axton was finding it quite hard to control his desires for Shaya. But. It was not a possibility for the Alpha to claim her. It was his degenerative brain state which will result in his destruction. He was also scared of having his mate to be turned into a caretaker for him. Things became even more complicated where Shaya flee away and Nick resisted. He chased her while guaranteeing to claim the rightful mate.
Carnal Secrets might not be as good as the first two chapters but it is still a worthy read or listen to. It is actually a slightly complicated book with its storyline and also with the development of its characters. Other than that, it is quite a reasonable paranormal romance novel.
