A threat always hovers over the head of the detectives who go after dangerous criminals. Michael Connelly gives two of the best characters in this series a difficult task that can bring a threat to their life as well. Rachel and Harry Bosch are going after a killer who is just crazy because he does not kill for vengeance rather he kills for excitement and fun.
He enjoys playing with his prey and it seems that he gives ratings to his performance as well. There is an amount of satisfaction for him at the end of the day when he finally kills his prey limb after limb. Len Cariou has added a lot of variation in the tone while narrating the book because the narrator also wanted the audience to feel the development of dangerous situations.
Rachel and Harry go after the Poet in this epic part of the series, the killer calls himself the poet because he writes poetry close to the dead body of his victims all the time. The dead bodies provide him with the creativity which he needs for his poetry. Harry Bosh wasn’t planning to go after him but when a close friend ends up dead Harry thinks that the Poet might be behind all of that.
However, Rachel had been after that killer for many years and now it seems that he is after her so sooner or later they are going to confront each other. From the maker of The Concrete Blonde: Harry Bosch Series, Book 3, and Trunk Music: Harry Bosch Series, Book 5 this is a jolly good story. Such stories are really scary when we start listening to them at night. It brings excitement for all of us as well so don’t decide to leave it even when you feel scared.
