The days of destruction have passed and Fallon is in the second phase of reconstruction after which she will assemble an army. The sickness that the people called the Doom came like a monster in the world that has humans and other supernatural creatures in it.
The monstrous force took a lot of lives and many other things for the world and then people like Fallon started using the power of magick in order to survive. Fallon is supposed to be the One because she has the gift of magick and at the same time, she has certain healing abilities too.
She is trying to free those who have been locked in prison for the sake of experimentation and after this, she will end the destruction forever with the help of the army that she is trying to gather under her flag. Nora Roberts once again gives her main character the help of a male character named Duncan who loves Fallon as well. Like in Identity and Red Lily the role of the male character is like that of a motivator because the main task is given to the female character only.
Julia Whelan’s voice was appropriate for Fallon that’s why the narrator is selected for the narration of this part. A war of epic proportions is at hand in this novel and Fallon is not sure whether she would win the war or not still she is not ready to back down from the challenge. She will fight against those who have tried to enslave the people of the land. Her army has elves, shapeshifters, and humans in the same proportion which shows that she is fighting for everyone.
