Alcatraz is going after the evil librarians as it is described in the name of the book but doesn’t just get the idea that the war is in the libraries all the time. The heroic deeds that this lone warrior has performed in the past were nothing compared to this big task that he has in his hand right now.
Brandon Sanderson does not consume a lot of time while describing the emergence of evil rather like always he gives more time to portraying the hero. The hero does not get scared like in Shadows of Self and The Way of Kings but he utilizes it sometime before he gets hold of the situation.
There are new enemies that Alcatraz is facing and he must understand what is going on at first. Sanderson takes time to get to the climax and after the climax, it is like the ride on a rollercoaster because the story starts going down the curve at a quick speed. There are several things that the main character has to sacrifice in order to get to the ultimate goal.
To get rid of the evil Alcatraz sacrifices something quite dear and he thought that he would fall short of the target but eventually, he succeeds with a little bit of good luck. Alcatraz’s character is narrated by Ramon De Ocampo and although the narrator has narrated the entire story the voice given to Alcatraz is the best tone ever. The voice made the character look stronger and smarter as compared to other characters and that was the demand of the story too.
