Duma Key Audiobook
Edgar Freemantle used to be a happy man when his life was not disturbed by the horrible accident. He was happy with his life and his relationship with his wife was going very well. At this stage, he was looking for a well-balanced retired life at the end of his career. When the accident took place, Edgar wasn’t ready that he would lose so much in such quick succession.
He lost his arm in the accident and also he started losing a part of his memory too. Then another tragic thing happened when his wife left him under such circumstances. He wasn’t able to believe that the woman who was so important in his life would do such a thing. This broke the heart of the man who was already broken psychologically.
Edgar’s psychologist asks him to change his focus for a while and start thinking about the things which used to attract his interest in the past. Edgar comes to the point that he used to like painting when he was young. So he goes to Duma Key where he can create a few paintings with peace of mind. The audience is taken to the world of Stephen King from this point of the story.
It is the world that people visited in ‘Salem’s Lot (Movie Tie-in) and Fairy Tale. We can also say that it is the world of imagination in general. Edgar meets an old woman in that new place and together they start a new chapter which is not peaceful at all. The paintings which Edgar creates start coming to life and the result that John Slattery narrates is no loving one.
