Winter Garden
Well, “never judge a book by its cover” is the quote that proves to be correct in this novel when the two sisters analyze their mother in their adulthood. Kristin Hannah has joined Fly Away and The Nightingale to the events of history as well. Here the story establishes contact with the Great War quite late in the show.
Meredith and Nina never had an ideal relationship with their mother because they thought that she had a strange personality. No matter how hard the two sisters tried in their childhood, they were never able to come closer to their mother. Then one of the two sisters just left the house in order to fulfill her dream to become a photojournalist.
The other sister stayed home and fulfilled her duties in life just like an average housewife. They thought that they would never see each other again but on the deathbed of their father, the two sisters come together once again. Their relationship with their mother was still weak and they didn’t know what to say to her. Their father at this point made a last wish i.e he wanted to hear the fairy tale that Anaya used to tell her two daughters when they were young.
Only this time, the mother promises that she will tell the story in detail. When she starts telling the story, Meredith and Nina realize that the story was linked to their family somehow. The family had deep buried secrets that change the life of the two sisters completely. They finally know the truth that why their mother used to behave strangely throughout their life.
