Humanity seems to be at the mercy of the computers or we can say a single computer in this novel. The entire world is run by a mainframe computer and what it says is actually true. Humans have to obey everything which is preached to them every night and going against it is not an option as computers don’t lie this is the job of humans. The computer has very easily made all the heroes into villains and the villains are now living as heroes.
The aliens who used to act like friends in the past are rivals of the first rank thus everything has gone upside down now. Michael Anderle has shown the power of brainwashing in Wake Him Up and One Bad Decision perhaps the author wants his fans to understand what is going on in the world. Also, we can expect what is going to happen in the future.
Between all of this, a man starts working in the radioactive wasteland because he thinks that dying that way might be better than working for the regime. It is John Dunn who knows that the people of the world are following the wrong kind of computer program and during his work, in the wasteland, he finds the truth, something which can change the shape of the world once again.
The truth exists out there and people need to realize this if they want to have a better future. Working under a computer program will take humans nowhere eventually. If you have this book then you are going to listen to it in the voice of David Stifel who is a unique narrator.
